Try Baremetrics →Stunning: a lower flat fee by MRR
Stunning charges a flat monthly fee by MRR: $60 from $5K to $12K, $100 to $27K, $120 to $50K and $150 to $100K, then $230 to $150K, $260 to $200K and $330 to $250K. That stays under Churn Buster's $269 starting price up to $200K MRR, though Churn Buster prints no tier table, so its fee at a given MRR is not compared here. Every Stunning plan includes every feature and starts with a 15-day free trial.
The software layers retries on top of Stripe's over up to 21 days, up to eight emails, SMS, an in-app notice and a payment page without login. SMS, backup cards, pre-dunning and the hosted pages are Stripe-only, the software supports Stripe, Foxy and Subbly, and its page lists no cancel flow. Baremetrics vs Stunning sets it against Recover.
Baremetrics Recover: $129 flat with metrics beside it
Recover is a $129 a month add-on, and Baremetrics Launch is $49 a month with the pricing page's yearly-billing switch on or $75 with it off. Recover sends emails, SMS, in-app banners and a hosted card-update form, and has no retry schedule of its own, so your processor does the retries. It works with Stripe, Braintree and Recurly, and with Chargebee where customer emails are collected.
Cancellation Insights, +$129 a month, shows a retention discount at the cancel button; Discount is the only offer type, applied as a Stripe coupon. On the flat price, Baremetrics guarantees Recover: "Recover more than your Baremetrics cost or your next month is free". Baremetrics advises using one dunning tool at a time. Baremetrics vs Churn Buster has the head-to-head.
Churnkey: cancel flows with recovery
Churnkey bundles Cancel Flows and Payment Recovery in Starter, $250 a month billed yearly or $300 billed monthly, for teams under $5K a month in churn volume, the monthly revenue lost to churn. Core and Intelligence are for teams at $10K or more in monthly churn volume. The price is fixed for 12 months, and the trial is 14 days with no credit card required.
Churnkey layers precision retries on Stripe's and adds email and SMS campaigns, hosted payment update flows and an in-app payment wall. Its cancel flows offer targeted offers, plan pauses and plan switches. It supports Stripe, Chargebee, Maxio, Paddle and Braintree; Churn Buster's list names Stripe, Recurly, Braintree and Shopify among others, but not Chargebee.
Stripe Billing's own retries, and when to stay on Churn Buster
Stripe lists Smart Retries and automatic reminders as Included in Billing's 0.7% of Billing volume. Its customer portal collects cancellation reasons by default and offers retention coupons once you turn them on. That can be enough for a handful of failures a month, and Churn Buster itself says no tool can prove a difference on that few.
Stay on Churn Buster when retries routed by decline code, a card-update page that needs no login on Stripe and Braintree, and a separate Cancel Flows product with a one-click cancel option on the first step matter. It is month-to-month with no contract.
Its calls to action are Book a call and Book a Tour, and it lists no trial. Churnkey and Recover each give 14 days to try and Stunning gives 15; best failed payment recovery tools sorts all of them.
