Baremetrics Recover: price, guarantee and what it does

Last reviewed October 23, 2026

Quick answerRecover handles the customer side of a failed charge (seven emails by default, SMS, banners, a card form) on top of any plan. It has no retry schedule of its own. Pick Churn Buster for retries by decline code.

Baremetrics Recover: what $129 a month buys

Recover (Payment Recovery) is Baremetrics' add-on for failed card payments. The pricing page lists it at +$129 a month on top of any plan, as read on October 23, 2026, with no annual price. It sends the emails, SMS, in-app banners and card-update form; your payment processor does the retrying.

Baremetrics' Build-your-own page and two comparison pages also offer 10% of recovered revenue instead of the flat fee. SMS runs on prepaid credits the pricing page does not price. Recover carries its own trial: Baremetrics says your first 14 days of Recover are on us. Baremetrics' pricing page sells Payment Recovery as an add-on to a plan, while one of its articles says Recover can be bought on its own; ask which applies.

What Recover sends, and what it leaves to your processor

Recover sends seven emails by default, on days 0, 3, 7, 13, 15, 20 and 30 per a Baremetrics article, plus SMS and a hosted card-update form on a Baremetrics subdomain or your own domain. A banner greets delinquent customers when they log in, then becomes a paywall, a screen that replaces access until the card is updated, after a grace period you choose.

Baremetrics' Recover page says Recover has no retry schedule of its own and leaves retries to your processor, although one of its comparison pages says Recover automates retries; we follow the Recover page.

Chargebee's Revive covers the part Recover leaves out: it times each retry by reading "200+ signals per failed payment".

The Recover guarantee in Baremetrics' own words

The pricing page says "Recover more than your Baremetrics cost or your next month is free." The Recover page applies it to the flat-priced add-on only; on the percentage option, the Build-your-own FAQ says you pay only on revenue Baremetrics wins back. The pricing page's FAQ words the promise as recovering more than "your Baremetrics subscription" costs. No page says whether the cost is the add-on, the plan or both.

The reading changes the target. Counting the add-on alone, the figure to beat is $129 a month. Counting plan plus add-on on Launch, it is $178 a month with the yearly switch on or $204 with it off (arithmetic, not Baremetrics figures).

Which billing systems Recover works with

Recover works with Stripe, Braintree and Recurly, and with Chargebee where customer email addresses are collected. On the first three, a new card from the form is saved to the subscription.

Take a membership business on Recurly whose failed payments are mostly expired cards. Recover adds two card-expiration reminders, 30 and 7 days before expiry, and the hosted card form. Recurly's side is a Payment Declined email with retries on your schedule, one dunning campaign on Starter and an Account Updater that costs extra. That business can weigh the reminders and the card form against its Recurly emails before adding $129 a month.

  • Recover for merchants who want customer-side follow-up and leave retries to the processor; Baremetrics pricing has the plans underneath.
  • Churn Buster for retries routed by decline code plus email and SMS, from $269 a month by MRR; see Baremetrics vs Churn Buster.
  • Stunning for retries on top of Stripe's, from $60 a month at $5K to $12K MRR. The best failed payment recovery tools sort all seven options.
