Stunning's MRR ladder against Recover's flat $129

Stunning's page sets a flat monthly fee by MRR, takes no percentage of what it recovers, and starts every plan with a 15-day free trial. Baremetrics' sign-up page offers 14 days.

Further up the ladder, Stunning's page shows $230 at $101K to $150K MRR, $260 at $151K to $200K, $330 at $250K, $400 at $300K, $550 at $301K to $400K, $650 at $500K, $799 at $600K, $949 at $700K, $1,099 at $800K and $1,249 at $900K. Above $900K it says Custom. It sets no price below $5K MRR.

Recover has two fee options: a flat $129 a month on the pricing page, or 10% of recovered revenue on the Build-your-own page and two comparison pages. Baremetrics' ROI guarantee covers the flat option only. Stunning says its customers recover 10 to 30 times what they pay, on average; that is its own claim, and no pick here rests on it.

Retries, emails and expiring-card warnings

On Stripe, Stunning retries on top of Stripe's own retries over up to 21 days, sends up to eight emails, SMS and an in-app notice, and warns customers 30, 15 and 7 days before a card expires. It advises keeping Stripe's retries on and turning Stripe's customer emails off.

Recover sends seven email templates by default, SMS on prepaid credits, in-app banners that become a paywall after your grace period, and a hosted card-update form. Its expiry reminders come 30 and 7 days ahead. Recover has no retry schedule of its own, so your processor retries. For Stripe's own card replacement, see card account updater for Stripe.

Billing systems: Stripe-only features against four billers

Stunning's software supports Stripe, Foxy and Subbly, and its SMS, backup cards, pre-dunning and hosted payment pages are Stripe-only. Recover works with Stripe, Braintree and Recurly, and with Chargebee where customer emails are collected. On Chargebee the emails and in-app notices work, while the saved-card update is for Stripe, Braintree and Recurly. A Braintree or Recurly business has only Recover of the two.

Managed recovery and cancellations

Stunning also sells Managed Recovery, where its team recovers failed payments for you. Its page estimates a one-time audit from $500 ($590 at $15K MRR) and bills the service monthly on MRR, with the exact price in the audit report. Stunning's pages list no cancel flow.

Baremetrics sells that job as Cancellation Insights, +$129 a month on any plan, for cancellation reasons and a discount through a Stripe coupon. A smaller business can start from best dunning software for small business, and Baremetrics Recover covers the add-on in full.
