ProfitWell alternatives: Metrics and Retain are two decisions

ProfitWell alternatives split into two decisions. ProfitWell Metrics is now a Paddle product that Paddle's page calls revenue reporting, completely free, and ProfitWell Retain is now Paddle Retain, built into Paddle Billing at no extra cost. Replace Metrics with ChartMogul or Baremetrics, and replace Retain with Churnkey, Stunning or Baremetrics' Recover (Payment Recovery). Prices were read on October 23, 2026.

In place of ProfitWell Metrics: ChartMogul or Baremetrics

ChartMogul has a Free plan up to $10K MRR, then Starter at $57 a month billed annually, or $69 billed monthly, up to $500K ARR. Starter allows up to 3 team members and one billing system plus two custom or third-party sources, a built-in CRM is included, and the trial is 14 days without a credit card. ChartMogul alternatives lists other options if neither fits.

Baremetrics lists Launch at $49 a month with its pricing page's yearly-billing switch on, or $75 with it off, up to $360K ARR, and Growth at $189 or $255 up to $3.6M ARR. It says it tracks over 28 metrics on its pricing page, and its Metrics page says "14 Days Free. No Credit Card Required."

Baremetrics' Build-your-own page and two comparison pages say free up to $180K ARR, while its pricing page lists no free plan. Baremetrics vs ProfitWell sets Baremetrics against ProfitWell side by side.

In place of ProfitWell Retain: Churnkey, Stunning or Recover

Paddle says Retain handles optimized retry logic, dunning, card updates and cancellation flows. Three alternatives cover those jobs to different degrees.

• Churnkey covers all four jobs across its pages: precision retries on top of Stripe's, email and SMS campaigns, hosted payment update flows and Cancel Flows. Starter, which lists Cancel Flows and Payment Recovery, is $250 a month billed yearly, or $300 billed monthly, for teams under $5K a month in churn volume, the monthly revenue lost to churn. Churnkey supports Stripe, Chargebee, Maxio, Paddle and Braintree.
• Stunning covers retries on top of Stripe's, up to eight emails and an in-app notice; it supports Stripe, Foxy and Subbly, its SMS and hosted payment page are Stripe-only, and its page lists no cancel flow. Fees run $60 to $1,249 a month by MRR, with a 15-day free trial.
• Recover covers the customer side: emails, SMS, in-app banners and a hosted card-update form, with retries left to your processor. It is $129 a month plus a Baremetrics plan, and cancellations are the separate Cancellation Insights add-on at +$129 a month.

When to stay with Paddle

On Paddle Billing, Retain comes at no extra cost, and Paddle Billing is 5% + 50 cents per Checkout transaction with no monthly fee. Paddle says Retain works with your existing billing stack through a JavaScript snippet, but that route goes through a demo and Paddle prints no price for it.

Stay with Paddle Retain if you bill through Paddle Billing. If you bill elsewhere, Paddle's route is a demo with no printed price, while Churnkey lists Stripe, Chargebee and Braintree, Stunning lists Stripe, and Recover lists Stripe, Braintree, Recurly and Chargebee where customer emails are collected. ChartMogul, Churnkey and Baremetrics each offer a 14-day trial, and Stunning offers 15 days.
